Zusammenfassung:119,440. Day, D. T., and Day, R. B. Sept. 28, 1917, [Convention date]. Hydrocarbons, distilling and cracking; bulk evaporators; spray evaporators. - Hydrocarbon oils are vaporized by causing hot products ot combustion free from oxygen to bubble through them. The process is used for removing gasoline from oils that are subsequently to be cracked by spraying into hot products of combustion under pressure as described in Specification 113,264. Hot gases formed by combustion in a chamber 1 are led by a conduit 8 into a cracking-chamber 10 into which oil is sprayed by a nozzle 11. The hot gases, together with the products formed by cracking at a temperature of at least 360‹ C., are led by a pipe 15 to a perforated pipe in the base of the vaporizing-chamber 16. The gases after bubbling through the oil are led, together with the gasoline formed by vaporization, by a pipe 19 to a fractionating-tower 20 maintained at least 190‹ C. The low-boiling hydrocarbons that escape condensation are led by a pipe 23 to a condenser. The crude oil under treatment enters the fractionating-tower 20 by a pipe 22 and trickles downwards. The oil thus heated, together with products formed by condensation, flows through a pipe 21 to the vaporizing-chamber 16. The oil after it has been freed from gasoline in the vaporizing-chamber, is pumped through a pipe 17 to the spraying-nozzle 11.
