Zusammenfassung: | 1,193,080. Treating woven floor coverings. COURTAULDS Ltd. 27 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 48423/66. Heading D1P. A woven floor covering having improved wear resistance is produced by treating a woven floor covering which does not have a pile and is based at least in part on natural fibres with an aqueous solution, suspension or emulsion of a resin which is a synthetic polymeric material obtained by polymersing one or more polymerisable unsaturated compounds so that the covering retains at least 5% of its weight of the resin and then remaining the water. The treating composition may be applied to the floor covering by spraying, padding, dipping or foaming from a lick roller. The resin may be one which may or may not require curing after application, e.g. polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, polvinyl chloride or a self-cross linking acrylic resin. The floor covering may comprise jute or sisal fibres alone or in admixture with acrylic or viscose rayon fibres. |
