Zusammenfassung:1,190,571. Mixing liquids in proportions. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 4 May, 1967 [5 Feb., 1966], No. 5137/66. Heading B1C. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] The constituents of a polyurethane mixture are supplied either through valves 42, 44 to a mixing head or through valves 43, 45 for recirculation to the storage containers 13, 14, the resistance of the flow parts being the same in each case so that there is no change in the ratio of the constituents on change over; the resistance is equalized by the values 42, 43, 44, 45 being of the same design (see Fig. 4, not shown, and Division F2). The mixing head, Fig. 5, is in two pivoted halves 1,14, 115 having cooperating grooves 122, 123 in their meeting faces forming in the closed position a mixing chamber in which the constituents are supplied through passages 152, 154. In another embodiment (Fig. 8, not shown) the mixing chamber is a bore (223 to which constituents are supplied through radially opposed passages (253 and 254, see also Fig. 7, not shown). A piston (202) has an axial bore (204) with outlets (.207) through which cleansing fluid is supplied; on completion of a mixing operation the piston (202) expels the mixture and washes the bore. The pumping apparatus (see Fig. 2, not shown) has a double acting hydraulic powered cylinder (31) and two single acting cylinders (17, 24) for the constituents. As depicted the piston rods of cylinders (17, 31) are pivoted to a rocking beam (88) by blocks (93, 94) slidably adjustable along the beam to alter the pumping ratio, and the piston rod of the cylinder (24) is connected to, and moves with, that of the cylinder (31) by means of a T-piece (99) fitting in recesses (77, 97). The cross-head blocks (91, 96) can be interchanged so that the cylinders (17, 31) act together and the cylinder (24) acts directly on the beam (88), which enables the ratio of the amounts dispensed by the pistons to be altered from 2:1 to 1:2; as depicted however, cylinder (17) has a crosssection twice that of cylinder (2x) so that the ratio of the constituents may be varied between 4:1 and 1:4.
