Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,188,205. Upgraded glass grinding waste. H. D. FERER, and H. T. STIRLING. 7 Aug., 1967, No. 36228/67. Heading C1M. Waste siliceous aqueous glass grinding effluent is upgraded to produce a valuable material having a specific gravity of not more than 2À5, by a process involving the steps of removing magnetic material and fines from the waste material, adjusting the moisture content of the waste material to 10-23%, then pelletizing the material, drying the resulting pellets at a temperature between 200‹ and 600‹ F. for a period of 2 to 7 minutes, preheating the pellets to a temperature between 1000‹ and 1500‹ F., heating the pellets at a temperature between 2200‹ and 2800‹ F. for between 3 and 10 minutes, cooling the pellets, and grinding them to a powder having a predetermined particle size, e.g. in the range 80-15 microns. The product can be used as a paint filler, as a replacement for SiO 2 in glass manufacture, as an abrasive in cleansing compositions, as a sized pellet in blast furnaces, and for light weight aggregates.
