A pump casing, e.g. of a centrifugal pump for corrosive materials, has a main portion 6 of corrosion-resistant material, e.g. stainless steel, and a number of mounting flanges 11 of non-corrosion resistant material, e.g. carbon steel, surrounding the inlet and discharge openings 7, 8 and an opening of a bearing and seal chamber 9. A corrosion-resistant sealing surface of adequate width is formed at each flange by welddepositing on the flange an annular layer 14 of corrosion-resistant material, e.g. stainless steel.
