Improvements in or relating to material-moving bucket machines

A material-moving machine comprises a bucket having blades 21 which are reciprocated by hydraulic means. The movable blades 21 alternate with fixed blades along the transverse leading edge of the bucket, the two outer movable blades extending outwards at a small angle to provide clearance for the bucket. Each blade 21 is reciprocated by a hydraulic hammer 6 connected to the blade through a member 7 and controlled by a valve 9. Each member 7 has a collar 13 engaging a beam 14 held in position by hydraulic control cylinders disposed on either side of the member 7, whereby when a blade 21 is loaded beyond a predetermined value the pressure in the associated control cylinders will automatically start the hammer 6 connected to that blade. Alternatively, the pressure is shown on a gauge for manual control. The machine may be a dragline excavator.
