Zusammenfassung: | 1,178,813. Intubation catheters. G. O. DOHERTY. 20 March, 1968 [15 April, 1967], No. 13597/68. Heading A5R. Disposable intubation tubes for establishing communication with and for sealingly engaging larger conduits, comprise a tubular portion 4, 42 and a bulbous cuff 44, 10 mounted on arid encircling the tubular portion, the cuff being formed from a compressible material which when compressed or distorted seeks to revert to its original configuration. The tubular portion may be made of flexible synthetic or natural material and the cuff from a spongy rubber, plastic, or other natural or synthetic material having a trabeculated or cellular consistency. The cuff may be provided with a smooth cavity-free outer surface impervious to liquid by the application of heat, coating with a plastic or latex or by using a cove of latex or plastic within which the fo or spongy material is flowed, extruded otherwise introduced. Endotracheal tubes in accordance with the invention are shown in Figs. 1 and 6. In another embodiment, the cuff is located eccentrically with respect to the tubular portion. The cuff may be adhesively secured to the external surface of the tubular portion. |
