[Also in Division G2] Gelatine coating compositions for use in forming layers of photographic materials contain at least one compound of the formula wherein A is methylene, alkyl substituted methylene or ethylene, R is a hydrocarbon radical (substituted or unsubstituted) or an aliphatic carboxylic acid acyl group, n is 1 to 40 and M is H, an alkali metal or an ammonium or organic ammonium radical as coating aid. R may be an alkenyl, e.g. oleyl, alkyl or alkaryl radical. The coating aid may be mixed with known coating aids, e.g. sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate and sodium isotetradecyi sulphate.
