Zusammenfassung: | 1,164,788. Magnetic storage arrangements. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 16 May, 1968, No. 23283/68. Heading H3B. A storage arrangement comprises a succession of matrix planes A-F, Fig. 1, having common word lines W and bit/sense lines B, a read out pulse on a word line producing a train of output pulses in the sense line, one pulse from each matrix, as the read out pulse is propagated through successive matrices. Each pulse has a polarity determined by the bit stored in the matrix from which it is transmitted, and in the known arrangement shown the spacing of the output pulses depends on the position in each matrix at which each bit/sense line intersects the corresponding word line. This variable output spacing is avoided by using either of the wiring arrangements shown in Figs. 3 and 4, a pair of word lines W and bit/sense lines B being provided each of which is associated with one half only of the matrix planes P1-P8. With either of the wiring arrangements shown, and ignoring the end connections between successive matrices which contribute little to the delayed propagation of a read out pulse through the store, the effective path length between any pair of lines B and W from one intersection to the next is a constant, and this is the same for every location in the store at the intersections of particular word and bit/sense lines. The storage elements may be thin films. |
