Zusammenfassung: | 1,157,935. Homopolar machines. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. 26 July, 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 35025/66. Heading H2A. A disc-type homopolar generator consists of a rotating disc formed of a support disc 5 which is preferably ferro-magnetic, and a conducting disc 9 which is preferably insulated, engaged at its periphery by brushes 10, and at the centre of the conducting disc by a further carbon brush 12 or by slip-rings. The brushes may be of carbon, liquid metal or conducting particles. Axial field between pole-faces 1a, 1b is generated by coil 8. The brushes 10 are connected to a current-return disc 11 in the working air-gap. This disc may consist of radial spokes and so may the rotor disc 9. |
