Each post is recessed into the beam in some such manner as is shown at D', D , the joint being also curved from side to side, as shown in Fig. 3, or otherwise formed to prevent lateral displacement. The foot of each post is chamfered or tapered as shown in Fig. 7 in order to obtain a firm hold upon the ground.
