[Also in Divisions B2 and C3] The invention comprises 1,2-bis - (4 - isocyanatocyclohexyl) - ethane. It may be prepared by phosgenating 1,2-bis-(4-aminocyclohexyl)-ethane or a salt thereof. The diamine used as starting material may be prepared by the oxidative coupling of p-nitrotoluene to give bis-(4-nitrophenyl)-ethane which is then reduced in one or two stages to give the required diamino compound.
