Zusammenfassung: | 1,125,305. Polyurethane foams. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 11 May, 1967 [4 July, 1966], No. 29820/66. Addition to 1,035,294. Headings C3C and C3R. Polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting under conventional foam forming conditions an aromatic polyisocyanate and a novel polyol blend which comprises (a) either (i) an adduct of both an alkylene oxide and a halo-substituted epoxy alkane with a phosphorus acid which contains at least two active hydrogen atoms or (ii) an adduct of an alkylene oxide with a phosphorus acid which contains at least two active hydrogen atoms, together with an adduct of an organic polyhydroxy compound containing at least 3 hydroxyl groups with a halosubstituted epoxy alkane, and (b) a polyether polyol which does not contain either phosphorus or halogen, the proportions of (a) and (b) being such that the polyol blend contains from 0À9 to 2% by weight of phosphorus and from 2 to less than 10% by weight of halogen and has a hydroxyl number between 350 and 650 mg. KOH per gram. Exemplified polyol blends are (1) mixtures of a glycerol/sucrose/propylene oxide adduct, a phosphoric acid/propylene oxide adduct and a glycerol/epichlorohydrin adduct, (2) a mixture of a sucrose/propylene oxide adduct, a phosphoric acid/propylene oxide adduct and a glycerol/epichlorohydrin adduct, (3) a mixture of a sorbitol/propylene oxide adduct and a phosphoric acid/epichlorohydrin/ propylene oxide adduct and (4) a mixture of a glycerol/sucrose/propylene oxide adduct and a phosphoric acid / epichlorohydrin / propylene oxide adduct. Conventional blowing agents, foam stabilizers and tertiary amine and/or organo-tin catalysts may be added to the foamforming reaction mixture. |
