A device for stripping carding flats 10 comprises a rotatable card clothed roller 11 engaging the flats, an oscillating comb 12 for removing the fibres from the roller and a needle plate 14 beneath the comb onto which the fibres are passed by the comb at the lower end of its oscillation. The fibres then slide down a trough 13 to be wound on a roller 16 rotated by a roller 15 the bearings of roller 16 being outwardly slidable to accommodate the growing fibre thickness thereon, The stripping elements are mounted on adjustable brackets so that the distance between roller 11 and the flats can be adjusted. Plate 14 is adjustable relative to the comb 12.
