Zusammenfassung: | Oxalic acid is prepared by the oxidation of olefine with a hot mixture of 30 to 80% by weight of nitric acid, 5 to 50% by weight of sulphuric acid, and 10 to 40% by weight of water which is maintained throughout. In a modification up to 5% by weight of nitrogen peroxide may be present and the proportion of sulphuric acid may then be as low as 2.5%. A temperature of from 50 to 70 DEG C. may be used and the reaction mixture heated after the introduction of ethylene to remove the nitrogen oxides. A suitable apparatus is also described. |
