An automatic coupler head 7 having a traction coupling (not shown) mounts a pivoted double arm lever 2 carrying plungers 3, 4, and has a plunger 5 which is displaceable independently of the lever 2. When like heads 7 abut, the plunger 5 is moved inwardly to disengage a stop 9 from a lug 8 and the compression spring 13 moves the rod 10 and its plate 11 to operate a spool valve 21 so that air from a main air line 15 can flow through lines 17, 20, 23 to move piston 29 and thus operate linkage to turn valve 32 allowing air to flow through line 15 to the air coupling 14. When uncoupling a push-rod 30 associated with the manual look is displaced to pivot the levers 31 and 2 and so move the spool valve 21 and close the valve 32. |
