Zusammenfassung: | 1,110,219. Shaft seals. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. 7 Sept., 1965 [24 Sept., 1964], No. 38997/64. Heading F2B. In a shaft seal having a peripheral sealing flange 3 moulded from resilient material with a frusto-conical surface 6 having a screw-thread 8 moulded thereon, the screw-thread is of such cross - sectional shape that one flank 9 thereof is substantially parallel with the seal axis X-X. The seal has an outer annulus 1 stiffened by a metal ring insert 2 and the flange 3 is urged inwardly by a garter spring 4. The cross-sectional shape of the thread 8 which is of right - angled buttress form with the longer flank 9 parallel to the axis X-X and the shorter flank 10 transverse thereto permits the seal to be removed from its die after mould - ing by axial movement in the direction indicated by the arrow. In use, the thread acts to feed back leakage oil. The seal may be of silicone rubber. |
