A process for the microbicidal finishing of cellulosic textile materials comprises impregnating the cellulosic material with at least one 2 - phenylamino - 4,6 - dichloro-s-triazine, the phenyl radical of which is substituted by one or more chlorine atoms and/or trifluoromethyl groups and chemically combining the triazine with the cellulose. A typical process comprises soaking the cellulosic material at ambient temperature in a solution of the triazine(s) in an organic solvent, subsequently squeezing the material, and then soaking it in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, followed by rinsing the soaked material with water.
