Zusammenfassung: | 110,516. McLaren, W. D., Welsh, G. M., and Johnstone, J. G. May 26, 1917. Frames and framing; hulls.-Relates to ships constructed with straight transverse frames and floor members laid so that the hull plating can be given the necessary twisting and bending in a cold state. Figs. 1 and 2 show the contour lines of the ship. The straight transverse frames converge downwardly from the midship portion and meet the straight floor members in a knuckle. The desired form is given to the ends of the ship by elevating the knuckles towards the ends. The knuckles may be formed of angle-bars or curved plates, or by flanging the side or bottom plates. This method of construction is applicable to ships of steel, wood, or other materials. |
