Improvements relating to tobacco-smoke filters

A method of producing a wrapped tobacco-smoke filter comprises mixing powdered or granular tobacco-smoke filter material with powdered or granular thermoplastic material, feeding the mixture from a hopper on to a paper band and heating the mixture to cause the particles of the filter material to become bonded by the thermoplastic material. The bonding material may comprise polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene or a polyethylene co-polymer with a vinyl or acrylyl ester. The filter material may be charcoal, silica gel, zeolites, perlite, sepeolite, activated alumina, magnesium silicate or mixtures thereof. The mixed filter material and bonding material are heated and shaped by dyes to cause bonding and then are passed through one or more cooling dyes.
