Remote control apparatus for sheet caliper control

A sheet caliper control device for paper-making machines, of the type having a series of nozzles on top of a chamber to direct air from the chamber against a roll-for example a calender roll-to cool those parts of the roll having too great a diameter and thus decrease the roll diameter thereat, has power operated means for actuating the valves of the nozzles independently. The valves may be fluid pressure actuated (c.p. Fig. 4 shown in Division F2), the fluid supply for each valve being controlled by a solenoid valve actuated by a switch or alternatively a solenoid may be directly operative to open a clapper valve.
