Zusammenfassung: | 109,653. Hawthorne, W., and Twinberrow, J. D. Sept. 20, 1916. Tip-wagons.-In a tipping-wagon of the kind in which the body, Fig. 1, is provided on its under-surface with downwardly convex arcshaped treads 4 so as to have a rolling tilting movement on upwardly convex arc-shaped tracks 5 on the under-frame, the body treads and underframe tracks are both smooth and transverse slip between them is prevented by means of crosschains 7x, 7xx, Fig. 4, each having one end connected to an upper edge of the body and the other end to the underframe at the opposite edge of a track 5. The body is locked in its central position by means of trunnion pins 6 fixed in the body ends at points which have an horizonta travel, such points being located below the cen tre from which the body tread is struck. The pins 6 normally engage recesses in the end of a spring plunger 9, from which they are releasec by admitting fluid pressure to the plunger cylin der 11. In order to tilt the body to either side the trunnion pins 6 have attached thereto chain: 13, Fig. 3, which pass round movable pulleys 14 guide-pulleys 15, and are connected at their ex tremities to the underframe. The pulleys 14 are journaled on cross-heads 16 at the end of piston rods 17 actuated by a piston 19, the movement of which in a cylinder 20 is controlled by a valve operated by hand-levers 21. Any possibility o the wagon overturning about the rails is avoidec by providing the underframe of the wagon with a projection or hook adapted to be coupled to the rails by means of a chain or to engage a per manent rail or fixture erected at a fixed stopping place. |
