An air diffuser the outlet of which is covered by a perforated plate 23 includes a deflector 25 formed of strips inclined to the plate 23 to provide a lateral discharge pattern. As illustrated, the deflector covers a part of the area of the plate 23 and is formed of four quadrants 26-29, Fig. 1 (not shown), of expanded metal or plastics which may be orientated to give a one, two, three or four-way discharge pattern. Locating means may be provided at the junction of the four quadrants, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), or for each quadrant individually, Fig. 7 (not shown). In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), the perforated plate is held in a removable frame 59 which has spring clips 64 locating the sections of the deflector. The deflector may cover the whole of the perforated outlet plate. Preferred dimensions are disclosed.
