Adjustable holder for doctor blades

A doctor blade 12, which may be used for coating, scraping, or creping-for example in paper making-is clamped against bar 32, there being means to apply pressure to the bar in a direction transverse thereto in the plane of the blade 12 to distort the bar locally and thereby the blade in its own plane to cause the blade to bow whilst maintained in its own plane. As described these means comprise rods 18 spaced along the length of bar 32, each rod at one end being secured by screws to bar 32 and at the other end being screw threaded in a nut 22 held against longitudinal movement by block 24. Each rod can be rotated by a handle 26 to shift the rod axially and thus distort the bar 32 and blade 12. The blade is clamped against bar 32 by a plate which is raised by a leaf spring when a holding nut is released.
