Dynamos, regulating.-An alternator used in a telegraph system is provided with tappings which are selectively earthed for signalling purposes, the alternator being so designed that the selfinduction and resistance of the windings between the tappings change in the same ratio. This is effected by varying the resistance of the wire employed in successive turns or by inserting non- inductive resistances between the tappings in series with the turns.
