Zusammenfassung: | Isoparaffins are obtained by contacting a mixture containing 30-90% by weight of a hydrocarbon of not more than 6 carbon atoms which is isomerized and the balance a hydrocarbon of at least 7 carbon atoms which is cracked with 0.1-5 mols. of hydrogen per mol. of hydrocarbon and a platinum-alumina catalyst, which has been chlorinated by reaction at 300-650 DEG F. with an organic chloride having a chlorine to carbon atomic ratio of at least 2, at 200-400 DEG F., 0.5-2 vol./vol./hr. and preferably at 300-500 p.s.i.g. in the liquid or vapour phase. |
