Zusammenfassung: | Surfaces containing Ag, Cu, or Ni are treated and protected with a preparation containing a dialkyl disulphide R-S-S-R, where R preferably has 8 to 22 carbon atoms and is derived from an alcohol or glycol. For cleaning, the preparation may contain an abrasive or a chemical reactive tarnish remover and may be in liquid, paste powder or semi-solid form and may be impregnated into fibre or fabric. For pickling, brightening, descaling and etching baths the disulphide may be first dissolved in an organic solvent. The disulphide can replace the mercapto carboxylic acid in preparations described in Specification 1,070,383.ALSO:Surfaces containing Ag, Cu, or Ni are treated and protected with a preparation containing a dialkyl disulphide R-S-S-R where R preferably has 8 to 22 carbon atoms and is derived from an alcohol or glycol.
