A check valve comprises a hollow body 11 provided internally with four coaxial annular seat members 17 located between a plate 16 and a further annular seat member 26. Each seat member has a passage 21, interrupted by webs 23, extending from its bore to an end-face thereof; and the end-face is provided with a continuous seat for an annular closure member 28. Springs 30 mounted in lugs 31 on a seat member, or plate 16, bias a closure member into engagement with the seat of the adjacent seat member. The closure members have dimples 29 that enter the respective passage 21 for guiding purposes. The valve may comprise one only of the seat members and closure members.
