A developer-containing silver halide emulsion coated on an absorbent base such as paper, and which is processed after exposure by treatment with an alkaline activator solution and then a thiocyanate stablizing solution, carries on the non- emulsion side of the base a water-vapour impermeable layer such as polyethylene, styrene-butadiene copolymer or pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. The water-vapour impermeable layer may be applied to the base before or after the latter is coated with emulsion or it may be applied after the material has been exposed and processed. The thiocyanate stabilizing solution may contain 1-phenyl- 5-mercaptotetrazole.
