The process described in Specification 1,001,472 is modified in that it is carried out in the presence of hydrogen, and the catalyst is free of hydrogenating metal components. The mole ratio of hydrogen to olefin or olefinacting compound and hydrocarbon is preferably in the range 0.2 to 20 to 1.
