Conveyor anchoring and advancing apparatus

Anchoring and advancing apparatus for an end portion of a face conveyer 1 includes an advancing jack 21 pivotally connected to frames 7, 12 by a cross-piece 16. A connecting member 18 secured to the main body of the end portion of the conveyer 1 extends beneath the conveying element of a roadway conveyer 2 and beneath a bridge portion 9 of the frame 7. The jack 21 is pivotally connected to the connecting member 18 on which is mounted a slide 19 for engagement with the bridge portion 9. Steering jacks 24 on the frame 7 engage the roadway conveyer 2. The body of the face conveyer 1 is secured to a frame 3 carrying fluid-operated props 5. To advance the end portion of the face conveyer 1, the props 5 are released and the advancing jack 21 is contracted, the slide 19 being guided by the bridge portion 9. The props are then reset, props 10, 14 of the frames 7, 12 are released and these frames advanced by extending the jack 21. During this advance, the jacks 24 are operated to steer the frames to correct any misalignment. Props 10, 14 are then reset.
