A rubber &c. sealing ring comprises a thick radially inner wall 2 with sealing edge 3 on its inner periphery and a thin outer wall or flange 4. The free end of the flange is formed with a bead 5 which may be reinforced by having a wire or plastic core (not shown) embedded therein. A garter spring 6 is located in a groove 7 in the inner wall 2 of the ring. In use, as shown in Fig. 2, the ring is sealingly housed in a cavity 8 between a sleeve 9 and a nut 10 of a cable gland, the edge 3 sealing against the cable 11 which is shown as having a radius R in the upper part of the Figure and a smaller radius r in the lower part. The flange 4 may be replaced by two oppositely inclined flanges.
