Zusammenfassung:102,513. Hall, B. J. Jan. 7, 1916. Oscillating type for cutting rectilinearly.-Relates to machines for trimming the edges of prints, photographs, &c., of the kind in which a hinged table, carrying the upper blade and the work, is brought into contact with a hinged lower blade, and consists in imparting to the upper blade a movement relatively to the table whereby it can be brought down to clamp the paper before the table is moved. The upper blade B is mounted in the table A by means of two eye-bolts b and is pressed upwards by springs S; the eye-bolts are jointed to levers b pivoted to the table at b and coupled by a rod b', from which project cams b which bear on the underside of the table, and a strut b which is supported on an inclined shelf b and is coupled by a link or chain f to a treadle. During the first part of the movement of the treadle, the blade is drawn against the table; but the movement of the table itself is impeded by the engagement of the strut with the shelf until the strut has moved laterally to clear the obstruction. The return movement of the table is effected by a balance weight. A modified arrangement ii described in which the table is operated by a toggle-linkage.
