Zusammenfassung: | A petroleum fraction boiling above 250 DEG C. is treated to increase its content of acids and asphaltenes by ageing in the presence of an oxidizing agent, and is thereafter heated to give a product of reduced pour point. The ageing is preferably effected in the presence of oxygen at 20-200 DEG C. for 2-200 hours. The heating step may be effected at 700-1000 DEG F., preferably at 100-300 p.s.i.g. if it is noncatalytic. Alternatively, the heating step may be a catalytic cracking stop, such as hydrocracking. |
