Zusammenfassung: | 1,023,222. Fluid-pressure brakes. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Oct. 31, 1962], No. 41186/62. Heading F2F. A distributer is provided with an inlet/ exhaust valve 4, 6 for controlling the supply of air from connection 1 to a brake cylinder connected at 140 or the exhausting of the latter to atmosphere 139 and a quick service valve having a movable element 34 which by movement out of engagement with a seat, on application of the brakes, obtains rapid operation of the distributer. The movement of the valve members is controlled by a " pile," i.e. a diaphragm arrangement to which various pressures are supplied. The normal release position of the pile is determined by the movable element 34 engaging a stop face 12 which is on the same plane as the seat 5 of the valve 4, 6 and on the same plane as the seat 118 of a retarded recharge valve 112 and which may be provided to restrict the build-up in pressure in brake pipe chamber 19 during a brake release. The pile comprises diaphragms 8, 20 forming chambers 41, 38, 19 and 21 connected respectively to the brake cylinder, atmosphere, the brake pipe, and the control reservoir. A valve sleeve 15 is provided in chamber 19 and is urged upwards by spring 18 into contact with valve member 34 and is held in position by a spring-loaded piston 30 subject to atmosphere on its right-hand side and brake cylinder pressure on its left-hand side. The distributer may be used with a compressed-air or vacuum braking system. |
