Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,014,588. Electron multipliers. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 1, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963], No. 34872/63. Heading H1D. An electron multiplier comprises at least two dynodes 3, 4 arranged one behind the other and each formed by a slat inclined from one edge of a frame, the apertures in the frames of adjacent dynodes being displaced sideways from one another, and the slats being oppositely inclined from the more distant edges of the apertures. A member 10 is arranged between adjacent dynodes, and near the distant edge of the aperture in the second dynode, to modify the electric field so that all secondary electrons from the first dynode slat impinge on the second dynode slat and do not strike the frame thereof. As shown, a multiplier comprises a photocathode 2, persuader electrode 13 and may have ten dynodes 3, 4 &c. A fieldmodifying member 10 is bent out of each dynode frame and the hole left thereby is closed by the frame 12 of a mesh 11 provided over the dynode entrance aperture. Alternatively a member 10 may be welded on to each dynode frame.
