The invention relates to a device for withdrawing a sample from a liquid, which comprises: - a sealed container comprising a box closed by a lid and containing a sampling bottle; - an inlet pipe which passes through the lid and opens into the bottle via its lower end; - an exhaust pipe which extends through the lid and the upper end of which extends above the upper end of the inlet pipe; - a sealed closure member for plugging the upper end of the inlet pipe; - a withdrawing member connected to the closure member for opening the inlet pipe when the withdrawing device is immersed to the desired depth for sample-taking; - sealing means for isolating the bottle from the container; and - maintaining means for maintaining a head of gas in the bottle.
