Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a system for estimating the surface state of a runway (L1) of an airport (10). According to the invention, said system comprises: - means of access (61) for accessing the data delivered by surveillance radars (40) of said airport (10) and which relate to aircraft present in said airport (10), - means of selection of aircraft (62) so as to select only the data which relate to the aircraft in the landing phase, - means of calculation (63) of speed data for each aircraft considered on the basis of the data selected by the means (62), - means of selection of speeds (64) so as to select only the speed data which correspond to a phase of deceleration by the wheel brakes of said aircraft considered, - means of calculation (65), on the basis of the speed data determined by the means (64), of a braking indicator of the aircraft considered, - means (66) of determining a state-of-surface indicator for the runway (L1) considered as a function of the braking indicator or indicators determined by the means of derivation (65) for one or more aircraft.
