The invention relates to a method of formulating a discriminator of objects which are obtained by an acquisition device furnished with a sensor, which comprises the following steps: - extraction of characteristics of n objects acquired, n > 1, the characteristics of an object constituting an observation xi which is associated with a class, i varying from 1 to n, the discriminator comprising Q classes with Q >= 2, - construction of a decision rule for deciding between the classes. This step of constructing the decision rule comprises the following substep: determining for each class q a discrimination function representing this class, q varying from 1 to Q, on the basis of parameters ce, positive or zero which are defined by calculating (I) with Mij = k(xi,xj)-lambdak(xi,xj) if xi, and xj belong to the same class or, Mij = -lambdak(xi,xj) otherise, k being a predetermined function with positive kernel, and lambda a predetermined real nonzero regularizing parameter, and with for each class q, (II), lq being the set of indices of the observations of class q.
