The device (1) has a guard (4) surrounding a complementary platform (2) that includes a rough surface. A column (5) supports the guard, complementary platform and a ladder (3), where the device is directly mounted on an existing platform (6) of a construction machine e.g. bulldozer, that includes tracks or wheels and a cabin placed in a high position of the machine. A reinforcement part (10) made of steel is placed at the bottom of the device. The platform (2) is maintained in position by a screw, which is accessible to persons before performing an engine maintenance operation.
