The system for allowing elderly or infirm patients in e.g. wheelchairs (2) to cool themselves in hot weather comprises a pressurized tank (8) of water or a connection to a mains water supply mounted on the back of the chair. A misting head (5) above the patient's head is connected to the water supply and can be operated by a remote control (9) on the chair arm. An independent claim is included for beds and wheelchairs fitted with the cooling system.
