Zusammenfassung:	The device has an ozone generator (6) connected to an exhaust line by a conduit and supplied with an oxygen by an air pump (13) and with an electrical current by a high voltage supplying circuit (15). Parameter detection units (18-23) detect parameters respectively of the operation of an internal combustion engine, and a control unit (17) controls the supplying circuit by modifying a frequency of a sinusoidal pulse train of the circuit, where the circuit comprises a low voltage/high voltage converter. An independent claim is also included for a method for an oxidation method for purifying exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
