New peptides containing an epitope from the hinge region of pro-brain natriuretic peptide, useful as standard or control in assay of pro-BNP for diagnosis of cardiac insufficiency

Peptides of formula (I) that contain a pro-BNP (brain natriuretic peptide) epitope are new. a1-X1-ArgAlaProArgSerPro-X2-a2 (I) a1 : hydrogen, thiol, hydroxy, aminoxy, primary or secondary amino, aminocarbonyl, biotin residue or acetyl; X1 : sequence of 0-3 amino acids (aa) optionally derived from the natural sequence of proBNP(1-108); X2 : sequence of 0-8 aa optionally derived from the natural sequence of proBNP(1-108); and a2 : hydroxy, primary amino or alkoxy. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) peptides (II) or their derivatives (IIa); and (2) kit, for detecting proBNP(1-108) in a biological sample, that contains at least one (I) or (II) as standard and/or control.
