An electrical machine (4) is controlled for attenuating the oscillations of rotation of a crankshaft of an IC engine (2) when the engine functions at idle speed. The heat engine is controlled so that speed of crankshaft rotation corresponds to an idle speed set point, which is determined based on the charge level of the accumulators.
