The use of an anionic associative acrylic or acrylamide polymer as a stabilizer of pigmented oil-in-water emulsions for cosmetic use

The use as an emulsion stabilizer of an associative anionic acrylic or acrylamide polymer added to the aqueous phase of a pigmented oil-in-water emulsion comprising 90-60 wt.% aqueous phase and 10-40 wt.% of anhydrous oily phase with 10-80 wt.% of pigment with respect to the phase of dispersed in it and cosmetic compositions in the form of such an emulsion. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for using the cosmetic emulsion for coloring skin, lips, eyebrows or nails; and, (2) a process for preparing the oil in water emulsion which comprises preparing an aqueous solution of the acrylic polymer; preparing the pigment paste; adding the pigment paste to the solution at ambient temperature; and, neutralizing the polymer with a base.
