A pawl (8) is normally held clear of the teeth (4) by a spring (11) but when the gearbox is in neutral and the vehicle speed is below a threshold a solenoid and finger (12, 9) engages it until freed by a further clutch pedal operation. Dispositif de commande d'un mécanisme d'embrayage disposé entre le moteur et la boîte de vitesses d'un véhicule comportant une fourchette de débrayage (1) reliée par un câble de débrayage (2) à une pédale de débrayage de façon à pivoter entre une première position d'embrayage et une seconde position de débrayage sous la traction du câble lors de l'enfoncement de la pédale par le conducteur, caractérisé en ce que le câble (2) est associé à des moyens de retenue (6, 8, 9) de la fourchette (1) en position de débrayage après le relâchement de la pédale.
