Variable geometry antenna for frequencies below 1GHz
The antenna includes an arrangement of n lengths of conductor rods (11, 12) separated electrically by (n-1) spacings, in which n is greater than unity. There are n-1 switching modules assigned to a respective spacing, with m of these modules having a two-state electromagnetic relay (R). Here m is le...

Zusammenfassung: | The antenna includes an arrangement of n lengths of conductor rods (11, 12) separated electrically by (n-1) spacings, in which n is greater than unity. There are n-1 switching modules assigned to a respective spacing, with m of these modules having a two-state electromagnetic relay (R). Here m is less than n. At least one relay is controlled by one or two modules containing at least one photovoltaic cell (21,22).A relay with one stable state could be used with one fibre although this would necessitate continuous illumination of the photovoltaic cell in the unstable state. A mechanical relay is an alternative, controlled by an electrically insulating rod, transparent to microwaves and connected to a moving core within a coil. The relay is a piece of conductor sliding directly along the axis of part of the
