Non-pathogenic ectoparasites (insects, arachnids) on vertebrates, especially mammals, are eliminated by application using an administrative route given good absorption and systemic distribution, of a parasiticide of formula (I): R1 = halo, CN or Me; R2 = S(O)nR3 or haloalkyl; R3 = alkyl or haloalkyl; R4 = H, halo, NR5R6, S(O)mR7, C(O)R7, CO2R7, alkyl, haloalkyl, OR8 or N=C(R9)(R10); R5, R6 = H, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, C(O)alkyl, S(O)rCF3; or NR5R6 = a divalent alkylene group that may be interrupted by 1 or 2 O or S; R7 = alkyl or haloalkyl; R8 = H, alkyl or haloalkyl; R9 = H or alkyl; R10 = phenyl or heteroaryl (optionally substituted by halo, OH, O-alkyl, S-alkyl, CN or alkyl); R11, R12 = H, halo, CN or NO2; R13 = halo, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, S(O)qCF3 or SF5; m, n, q, r = 0-2; X = trivalent N or CR12; given that when R1 = methyl, then R3 = haloalkyl, R4 = NH2, R11 = Cl, R13 = CF3 and X = N.
