The patent concerns a cable lead-in for a switching cubicle with openings in the base. The lead-in comprises two half shells (21, 22) which hold a split seal (2) around the cable (8). The shells clip together and are then pushed into the recess (11) of a plate (10). The shells have flat top and bottom faces which are at right angles to the cable direction. They have a peripheral groove (23) where they fit into the plate. The edges (15) of the plate around the recess are folded down to a depth roughly equal to the depth of the shells. The seal is made from a set of concentric split rings.
