Connection system between tibial plate and base of knee joint prosthesis

The plate (1) and its corresponding base (2) include a number of complementary surface features (1a,2b,2c) allowing passage of at least one fastener (3). The fastener is oriented in the same horizontal plane as that defined by the base and plate when assembled together. The fastener comprises a pin, passing between a pair of apertures (2b1,2c1) formed in upwardly-projecting portions of a peripheral wall of the base, which cooperate with cut-outs in the lower edge surfaces of the plate. In between these apertures, the pin passes through a hole in the body of the plate to secure the two components together.
